Seminar at Sea!

7 Day Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Joy

Being a travel agent, sometimes I am presented with opportunities that I can’t pass up! This is one of those opportunities.

About 3 weeks ago, it was announced that my host agency – Trevello Travel Group – was organizing a Seminar at Sea with Norwegian Cruise Lines this September, and it was open for applications. A Seminar at Sea is a chance for travel advisors to experience a cruise line that they might not have had the opportunity to sail on yet, in order to be better equipped to promote them to their clients who they feel would be a great fit. There are special learning opportunities, training sessions, and meetings with cruise line reps, as well as networking opportunities with fellow travel professionals. It really is a great way to acquire hands on experience in order to better make recommendations to our clients.

Jerry and I were planning on going on a hot holiday this winter, but I decided to apply for this Seminar at Sea anyway, as space was limited, and go from there.

A big reason we wanted to apply, is the unique itinerary. This isn’t your typical caribbean cruise (which we also love, by the way). This is a 7 Day Canada & New England cruise, which is an itinerary we wouldn’t necessarily choose ourselves, and that makes us even more excited for this opportunity.

Neither of us have ever been to Quebec City, Saguenay, Corner Brook, Sydney, or Halifax – have you? Give us your recommendations in the comments for what we should see and do!

I’ve been to NYC, but it was over Christmas 2017, and it was during a cold snap that resulted in one of the coldest Decembers on record!! I still had an amazing time though, and can’t wait to show Jerry the jaw-dropping sights and sounds of the city, without freezing to death this time! Ha ha

Even though I’ve booked clients on Norwegian Cruise Lines, I’ve sailed with them only once, on the Norwegian Getaway in 2018, but that was for a conference. Most of my time was taken up by conference sessions or events, so I am looking forward to immersing myself more into the actual passenger experience this time, to learn what NCL is like from a client’s perspective.

About the ship:

Norwegian Joy is an absolutely gorgeous ship. I love her bright colors and designs!! She is also pretty big, with a capacity of over 3800 passengers and 1800 crew.

You’ll never go hungry… or thirsty! Norwegian Joy has 3 main dining rooms, a buffet, 8 specialty dining restaurants, and 18 bars & lounges!

You’ll never be bored either… there are tons of activities scheduled throughout the day, and amazing shows at night. Joy also has a go-cart track, mini golf, laser tag, and of course, a water park!

Jerry and I are super excited for this cruise! It will be something out of the ordinary for us and I think we will love it! I know I’ll learn a lot in my sessions, and Jerry will have lots of activities to occupy his time while I’m in training. Time is flying by… I better get booking our flights & hotels!!!

If you’d like to know more about Norwegian, or any other cruise lines, be sure to contact me anytime! I often have access to group rates, or special amenities just because my agency belongs to the Virtuoso global network. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Thanks for reading and SEA you soon!

(AKA First World Problems๐Ÿคฃ)

Well hello again my friends and welcome back. Today’s chat is a little different, this blurb will be about a slightly tougher decision that we had to make.

Recently we had an offer fall into our laps to take a fall cruise. This cruise leaves out of Quebec City and ends in New York City, taking in all the stops in the Maritimes along the way. I know, hey? How is this a tough choice? Well, due to us both having full time jobs and limited vacation days, we had to decide between this new cruise and a trip to a resort in Puerto Vallarta!

I absolutely love the heat, so instantly I was opposed to the new offer. We chatted a fair bit about the decision, as this was a great opportunity to see our own East Coast. The leaves will be changing colours, and the weather may be a bit cooler. It should be absolutely gorgeous! We have a cruise coming in April/May 2024 – our first transatlantic cruise – Fort Lauderdale, FL to Rome, Italy. In my brain I was thinking, “Hmmm…one cruise + one resort trip – this will be great!” Then the new fall cruise popped up!!! The new offer completely eliminates a tropical vacation this year – ugh! Was I willing to give up that much sun & heat to break up our COLD Saskatchewan winter??

The decision was a tough one. At the end of the day, my choice was the 7 day Canada and New England cruise offer, as I have completely fallen in love with cruising. You may remember me saying that in our first blog Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady Cruise Review. I love the sun and heat, but given the choice, I would rather cruise than go to a resort.

So that was our final decision, we are going on the cruise in September! Woot Woot Woot!! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Hope you enjoyed my corner, and please feel free to share your thoughts and comments on what you would do!

Thanks and be safe, friends!
Jerry
